TODDLERS from a local playgroup enjoyed games and song with residents at a convalescent on Mannachie Road.

Pilmuir Nursery paid a visit to Meadowlark Care Home and senior early years practitioner Elspeth McIntyre now hopes that it will now be at least a monthly event.

She said: "It was a very successful trip -within the first half an hour, the residents and children were playing together with playdough, bubbles and engaging in conversation."

One resident asked the children to sing so they performed favourites 'I Had A Little Turtle', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'Twinkle Twinkle Chocolate Bar'.

Pilmuir's youngest pupils have been learning how to nurture and include their peers. The Meadowlark visit helped them extend what they have learned to the wider community.

Ms McIntyre said: "The children loved interacting with the residents, especially whose mother works at the care home. They quickly warmed to all of them and moved around the room interacting. They are keen to return after the October holidays."
