Under the Early Years programme the Armed Forces Families Fund is offering grants of £20,000-£80,000 to nurseries for projects lasting up to two years which help enhance learning environments to meet specific needs of children from Forces families.

In general, nurseries should be situated within five miles of a base.

Applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposals will benefit children from Forces families and why they represent good value for money. Successful applications will also need to show a good relationship with the local Service community and will need a letter of endorsement from a senior officer at the base or unit.

Nurseries which are run by charities, Community Interest Companies, local authorities and private firms are all eligible to apply for funding.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Monday, December 5, 2022 with applicants being informed of the outcome before the end of February. It is expected that successful projects will get under way before May 1, 2023.
