A NEW VisitScotland campaign is urging people across Moray to support their local tourism industry by enjoying a day out in their home region.

The initiative highlights new places to explore as well as showcasing the many attractions and locations that bring visitors from all over the world to Scotland’s shores.

The Now is Your Time campaign, which launched on Wednesday, June 30, will be live throughout the summer. It covers five themes starting with a focus on days out before moving to short stays, city breaks, family gatherings, and escape and connect experiences to benefit physical and mental wellbeing.

It is hoped the campaign will support the recovery of tourism in a safe and responsible way.

Highlighted locations in Moray include: 16th-century Brodie Castle, ancestral home of the Brodie clan for over 400 years, which houses impressive art collections as well as landscaped garden, nature trail and The Playful Garden; Morayvia Science and Technology Centre, at Kinloss, whose displays include a Nimrod Airframe, a Sea King SAR helicopter together with cockpits from Nimrod, Jet Provost and Vampire aircraft. It opens on July 3; the 200-year-old Gordon Castle Walled Garden at Fochabers – one of Scotland's largest and oldest walled gardens; and the family-owned Speyside Cooperage Visitor Centre, which still produces whisky casks using traditional methods and tools.

Jo Robinson, VisitScotland regional director, said: "The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the tourism and events industry and we all have a part to play in helping it recover.

"With the first part of this new campaign we hope to share some of the experiences available locally and encourage people to get out and explore all the wonderful attractions and locations on our doorsteps.

"Moray Speyside is home to some fantastic days out that suit all ages and interests. Now is the time to get out and enjoy them.

"The Scottish tourism and events industry needs the support of people living in Scotland. We’re asking everyone to support the sector by taking days out and considering a staycation. A day out can be anything from visiting an attraction, enjoying a meal with family and friends or exploring somewhere new."
