Passengers heading west from east Forres finally have a bus shelter.

THE east end of Forres finally has a covered bus stop thanks to Moray Council.

The shelter at the Victoria Road end of Drumduan Road now serves the communities of Forbeshill and Drumduan, and any other passengers heading west through the town.

Forres Community Council (FCC) member, Steve Ferris, lives in Drumduan Park.

He explained: "When the regular bus service around Forbeshill was withdrawn by Stagecoach, the Drumduan shelter was seen to be not required even though the 10 still used the stop.

"A member of the public successfully campaigned to get a bus shelter down by Tesco on Nairn Road installed some time ago. However, there was no movement on the Drumduan one.

"This changed a few months ago when workers came and laid the base of the shelter there, returning last month to fit the shelter."

He added: "It seems to be well used in the mornings. It's not the best but it's a lot better than no bus shelter."

Stagecoach confirmed bus stops are the responsibility of local authorities.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: "The shelter facility was requested by passengers using the stop at that location. It was installed at the start of February."
