However, the snow gates at the Lecht are currently closed on both Moray and Aberdeenshire sides.

Meanwhile, the B9007 within Moray remains open but Highland Council have advised that they have closed the snow gates on their section of the road due to drifting snow.

A yellow weather warning remains in place for snow and ice in Moray with many areas across the entire north of Scotland likely to experience "frequent heavy snow showers", according to the Met Office.

Consequently, many schools in the region have been closed today.

Public transport also continues to feel the effects of the weather with Stagecoach Bluebird's service to Dufftown currently suspended while ScotRail says that services between Inverness and Aberdeen are also likely to experience disruption.
