PRELOVED uniforms are available for free or a small donation at a local church.
Following successful sales fairs at St John’s last April, August and October, more events are planned from 9.30am-noon on Saturdays April 15 and August 12 in the church hall.
However, Reverend Dr Hamilton Inbadas confirms drop-offs and collections can be made at any time of year.
He said: “We are promoting the sharing and re-use of resources. It helps everyone to spend less. Besides economical and environmental benefits, this initiative also promotes a sense of community.
“During fairs, clothes are laid out by type and size so that they can be easily seen. A private facility is available for trying clothes on. Attendees collect what they need - there is no charge but donations in aid of Moray School Bank who support us on the day are welcome.
“Many social connections are also made at the events.”
He added: “We also offer appointments to see and choose from our stock between fairs. Families can email needles@stjohnsforres.org.uk or privately message the St John’s Facebook page for more information.”
The pre-loved uniform project depends on donations of clothing that is clean and in good condition. It is kept in storage at St John’s. Many items available are brand new - unsuitable items go for recycling.
“If you wouldn’t send your child in it, then we won’t put it out for others,” said Rev Inbadas. “However, if your youngsters have grown out of their uniforms and don’t have someone in mind to pass them on to, we can re-home them.
“We accept all uniforms, mainly school, though we have had Boys Brigade, Brownies, Taekwondo, gym, dance and others.
“Clothes are often outgrown before they are outworn. Let’s get them used for longer!”
