Moray's MP has welcomed news that the United States will open its doors to UK lamb exports in the new year.
The US authorities originally placed a ban on UK lamb in 1989 due to concerns surrounding bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
Douglas Ross called the lifting of the ban after more than three decades a positive boost for local producers.
He said: "This new deal means that lamb producers in Moray and across Scotland will have a massive new market available to them from January 3.
"We know that Scottish lamb is the best in the world and this new deal secured by the UK Government will showcase produce from Moray to a huge new market and could be worth millions to Scottish sheep farmers.
Malcolm Offord, the UK Government Minister for Scotland, said: "This massive new export opportunity is fantastic news for farmers in Scotland and around the UK.
"Scottish farming is crucial to the UK's recovery from the pandemic and the UK Government will do everything it can to support it."
