THE three trails which go to make up the Moray Way feature in a new adventure guidebook out this month.

Big Trails: Great Britain & Ireland Volume 2 is a guide to 25 of the most iconic long-distance trails in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands.

It is the third book in the Big Trails series from Vertebrate Publishing, which specialises in books and guides on the great outdoors.

The guide is designed to inspire big adventures and includes a general overview of the 155km Moray Way, which incorporates the Moray Coast Trail, the Speyside Way and the Dava Way.

The Dava Way, part of the wider Moray Way, features in Big Trails: Great Britain & Ireland Volume 2.

The chapter lists whisky and dolphins as the route's main highlights and urges trekkers to make time for pit stops at some of the many distilleries close by, as well as the Craigellachie Hotel and Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay.

The book offers planning advice, technical information, overview mapping and stunning photography.

Each route specifies approximate timings using the Jones-Ross formula, which allows for custom itineraries to be generated depending upon the speed of the user, whether walking, trekking, fastpacking or running.

The book, edited by Kathy Rogers and Stephen Ross, costs £20 and is available from www.v-publishing.co.uk.
