Performers are being asked to apply for an upcoming talent show at the Universal Hall in Findhorn.

The venue is calling on people over the age of 16 to submit three-minute audition-type videos of themselves in action.

This can involve comedy, theatre, singing, music, dance or any other performing art.

The best entries, chosen by a panel, will then receive mentoring from a professional in their field ahead of a live show at the Universal Hall on September 9.

In addition, video-makers and photographers are also invited to send three-minute videos to highlight their work.

Again, the best will be chosen for mentoring in order to produce new videos which will be woven into the show using the hall’s cinema-sized screen.

A spokesperson for the venue said: "We reckon this is going to be of interest to budding artists and performers who are keen to have their work seen in front of an audience now that the events industry is picking up pace again.

"Maybe some people are looking to launch a career or change their existing careers to something more rooted in performance and the arts.

"We had many great submissions and mentors last year and are looking to build on that in 2022."

The show is titled In the Spotlight, having previously being called Show Off.

Among the performers last year was local DJ/producer Duncan Falconer (AKA Acutek).

He says; "It was a great experience. Being able to meet creatives from the local area and play a different style of set helped me push my boundaries.

"I feel like it’s improved my performance and I’m looking to develop this further."

Submissions will be accepted from March 23rd to May 20th.

One professional mentor already involved is the Scottish actor Scott James Kyle, who's known for his roles as Ross in Outlander, Clancy in The Angels' Share, and Corporal Stu Pearson in the film Kilo Two Bravo.
