The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning in response which will come into effect from 3am on Friday and will remain in place until 3pm on the same day.

Some parts of Moray could face 60mph gusts according to forecasts and the Met Office is warning that some disruption may be caused as a result.

The warning, which has been issued for nearly the entirety of Scotland, says that injuries and "danger to life" from flying debris are possible.

Damage to buildings is also likely while widespread travel disruption could also be caused by the strong winds.

The warning adds that power cut may occur which may in turn affect other services such as mobile phone coverage.
