Richard Lochhead has stated his belief in the importance of a new Scottish Government fund that aims to tackle mental health inequalities.

.

Moray's MSP says the impact of social isolation and loneliness have been made worse by the pandemic.

The £15 million Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund aims to start addressing this by supporting adult community-based initiatives across Scotland.

Mr Lochhead said: "I’m really pleased to see new funding announced and I hope that grassroot organisations in Moray will benefit from it

"The last 18 months have been challenging for all of us.

"The Scottish Government recognises the toll the pandemic has taken on many people’s mental health, especially those that have been left isolated or lonely as a result of restrictions.

"Investing in mental health is a priority for the SNP Government as we emerge from the toughest times most us of have ever faced and as society looks to recover."
