Costing £40 this year, a permit must be attached to each brown bin at a domestic property being used for garden waste.

Applications received before March 6 should be received in time for the first collection on April 1. Those received after March 6 will be processed and posted out after April 1 and may take up to 10 working days to arrive.

Once the permit has been received, householders should write their address on it in the space provided with a permanent marker and then attach it to the bin just under the handle.

Those who do not wish to buy a harden waste permit can either compost it at home or take it to their nearest recycling centre.

Brown bins solely used for food waste do not require a permit.

Visit www.moray.gov.uk for more information or to apply and pay.
