THE Moray Emergency Relief Fund has now surpassed £100k in donations.
The total amount donated as of lunchtime today was £100,700.
The Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Major General Seymour Monro, who lives at Dallas, said: "This is amazing news. The people of Moray are being so generous.
"I have to say thank you so much to all the people and businesses who have donated so far."
The fund has now distributed more than £10,000 in cash grants to people facing financial hardship as a direct result of the coronavirus crisis.
There have been more than 100 applications for help, including many families seeking computers to help with home schooling.
The fund trustees are working with Moray Council to secure the loan of computer equipment.
Mr Monro said the trustees aim to turn around applications for support inside 48 hours.
"Where there is a real emergency we can deliver the cash straight to people," he added.
The fund was jointly launched three weeks ago by Maj General Monro and his Banffshire counterpart Andrew Simpson, former head teacher of Elgin High School.
Application forms can be downloaded from www.moray.gov.uk and both application and donation forms are also printed in The Forres Gazette, Northern Scot, Banffshire Advertiser, Banffshire Journal and Banffshire Herald.
