The strain of higher costs – such as groceries, fuel and everyday items – along with loss of income or being on a low income can lead to critical times when basic needs cannot be met.

The Moray Community Foundation is a local community charity set up earlier this year to offer emergency funding to people experiencing hardship in the region who may not be able to access any benefits or have nowhere else to turn for support in a financial emergency.

The fund is specifically for those who are currently experiencing a cost of living emergency and have tried to access all other avenues of support prior to making an application.

Applications must be supported by a referee such as Money Advice Moray, CAB, Moray Firth Credit Union, R-evolution for Good or similar organisation that are providing support. Applicants should ensure that they have spoken to their referee and that they have agreed to support the application prior to submitting. All applications will be discussed with each applicant's referee.

The Moray Community Foundation will be making a special guest presentation at the next tsiMoray Health and Wellbeing Forum in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 3 from 1pm at the Elgin Youth Café, Francis Place, Elgin, IV30 1LQ.
