The heroes will be revealed on Thursday night.

The Moray and Banffshire Heroes awards - promoted by Highland News and Media and sponsored by Inverness Airport - will take place at the Mansefield Hotel in Elgin.

With the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, this will be the first in-person awards in three years years.

The nominees across 12 categories will be there to hear if they have been chosen as the winner for 2022.

All of those shortlisted have done fantastic work over the last 12 months in their respective fields, and are worthy of being nominated.

The evening, hosted by broadcaster and motivational coach Nicky Marr, will be a celebration of the amazing volunteers and individuals across our communities.

Graeme Bell, general manager of headline sponsors Inverness Airport, said: "With what has been a really hard 18 months we are really looking forward to seeing everyone embrace these awards and celebrate how people have done so much to help others."

Lynn Gardner, events manager with Highland News and Media, added: "It is such a thrill to be able to come together again to pay tribute to our nominated heroes and congratulate our winners on the night."

And to allow as many friends and family to share in their big night, the event will be livestreamed on The Northern Scot Facebook page - www.facebook.com/NorthernScot - from 7pm on Thursday, March 10.

The categories which will be announced on the night are:
