LITTLE more than 24 hours remain for members of the public to vote for flags that will represent Moray and Banffshire for years to come.

Competitions to find new flags for both areas launched in February, with thousands of people – young, old, local and far-flung – submitting entries.

A local panel met at The Northern Scot's office in Elgin to whittle entries down to four finalists for Moray and four finalists for Banffshire.

Voting on the finalists has been open for almost six weeks, and more than 2500 votes have been tallied between the two competitions.

The public will be able to choose between these four designs, with the winner to be Banffshire's new flag.

Voting will close at midnight on August 8, so now is the last chance to vote for your favourite.

The winners will be unveiled at flag-raising ceremonies later in the year. Winning flags will be registered with the Lyon Court and the Flag Institute's UK Flag Registry.

VOTE FOR: Moray's new flag or Banffshire's new flag.
