The Met Office is now forecasting more snow and ice in Moray tomorrow – after issuing a new alert this morning.

Following recent heavy snows, the existing warnings had been expected to end at 9am today.

However the Met Office's forecaster revised their opinion shortly before 8am today.

The yellow warning now remains in place until noon on Thursday, and extra snowfalls of up to four inches are now thought possible on higher routes.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Snow and hail showers are likely to become more widespread from the northwest through Wednesday morning, lasting overnight and into Thursday.

"For areas away from immediate coasts 1-3cm of additional snow is likely, with 5-10cm possible for higher ground above about 100m."
