A SOCIAL group will use a grant generated by natural energy towards equipment in their new meeting place.

Forres and District Men’s Shed were awarded £5000 by the Berry Burn wind farm Community Fund towards the purchase and installation of a dust extraction system in their new premises of Whitely House, Mundole.

Member David Parker is grateful for the "fantastic" award.

He said: "The extractor will be coming from local dust extraction system manufacturer A-mac Environmental. We will be fitting the extractor with their support then trained in its use."

Men's Shed offers space to work and relax, pursue hobbies, share skills, socialise and get practical help with projects.

The Forres branch had planned to have representatives to spread the word at Forres Theme Day and pop-up stalls at a local supermarket.

Mr Parker added: "Our plan's are on hold due to the latest conditions set by the UK and Scottish Governments on coronavirus.

"We will have to watch and keep safe for our members and the rest of the community."

The Men's Shed itself is closed for the next 12 weeks.

"Some of our members are over 70-years-old so movement is restricted. It may be July or August before the shed is open again."
