LOCAL Mason’s have donated £600 to three worthy causes.

Lodge St John (Operative) No 37, based at 3 High Street, presented cheques for £200 each to Forres Area Soccer 7s, Film Forres and Morayshire CLAN Cancer Support.

Lodge spokesman Mark Bruce confirmed fellow members recommended the beneficiaries.

He said: “Funding is accumulated by members making donations at our meetings and by proceeds from hiring out our hall.”

Delighted and grateful Soccer 7s treasurer Tommy Smith said: “The money will go towards new bibs for our players. We have over 220 kids signed up so far this year, the most we’ve had at this stage of the season for years. The bibs will come in handy as we’ll potentially have 150 kids attending our training nights on Thursdays.”

A Film Forres spokeswoman said: “We’re very grateful indeed for the unexpected and very generous donation. It will be put towards the continued cost of purchasing and licensing our films.”

CLAN Cancer Support volunteer Margaret Duncan thanked Lodge St John and said: “We’re delighted with the cheque as during lockdown we weren’t able to have fundraising events so it will help us to get up and running again.”
