A bit of stone cracked off and was balancing on the edge, leading to the cross being fenced off.

On Wednesday, August 21, a site survey will be undertaken to find the extent of the damage and how best to deal with it.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place for half a day, starting at 8.30am, to allow safe access for those surveying.

The cost of the essential repairs will be made clear after the survey.
