A MAINS replacement project, starting next week, is set to affect several Forres roads.
The project, which will get under way on Monday, June 15, will see SGN invest £168,000 to replace approximately 950 metres of gas mains with PE pipe.
SGN will be carrying out work on Macbeth Road, Varis Road, Forbes Road, Meikle Crook (between numbers 12 and 18), Councillor’s Walk (between the junction of Pilmuir Road and 23 Councillor's Walk), Thornhill Road, St Catherine’s Road (between the junction of Thornhill Road and High Street) and the roundabout at the High Street. Work is scheduled for completion by December 21.
SGN said they were writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of their projects.
A spokesperson added: "As lockdown restrictions begin to ease, we can begin restarting the planned activities we paused back in March.
"We are planning a controlled, phased approach to restarting our paused activities, so we won’t be restarting all work at once.
"We are continuing to prioritise emergency and safety-critical work on our network.
"Our essential work will ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
"We are working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our projects in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.
"Before we restart any activities, we will carry out extensive risk assessments to ensure we are able to do the work while meeting all current coronavirus safety guidelines."
"Typically, our work won’t involve entering homes or businesses at this stage unless it’s an emergency."
