A MYSTERY history tour has been launched for an area of Forres.

Forres Heritage Trust (FHT), working with Moray Treasure Trails, has created the walk which includes key local sites and QR codes participants scan for information about stops.

Julie Millar of Moray Treasure Trails volunteered to create the trail, whilst Claire Doughty who supports FHT with publicity, pulled the information together.

Julie said: “Claire knew keys sites of interest. I was able to bring it altogether in a user-friendly treasure trail which we hope will appeal to people of all ages.”

This trail is generally focussed on Grant Park and Cluny Hill.

FHT started creating trails last Autumn with a Halloween walk, followed by a Christmas themed trail and another for the Spring. The new Mystery History Walk takes in locations of historical significance.

Claire, who started planning the walk with her son Adam, is delighted the it is ready.

She said: “Julie creates walks all over Moray and hosts them for birthdays parties and other events. She helped simplify ours so we now have a quirky wee route showing off the best of Grant Park, Cluny Hill and Nelson’s Tower.

"It will get people out and about and if they choose to scan the QR codes, will teach them local history too.”

Claire added: “Now that we have one route sorted, we may branch out and do more throughout the town.”

FHT chairman George Alexander is grateful to Julie, Claire and Adam.

He said: "Cluny Hill holds many mysteries, some now known and others yet to be discovered. This mystery walk will enlighten, as well as benefit fitness and wellbeing.

"It’s another small addition to the great offering that we have at FHT and may even inspire folk to join as a member or as a volunteer.”
