Maclean's Highland Bakery, based in Forres, took home three awards following a gala celebration in Glasgow at the weekend.

That included Regional Silver Awards for the bakery's macaroni and Scotch pies in the 'Savoury' category of the event.

In the 'free-from' category, the bakery's chocolate brownie cookie took home a National Bronze Award.

Lewis Maclean, Maclean's Highland Bakery Manging Director, said: "We were so pleased to receive these awards at the weekend as this standard keeps rising every year.

"Please for our staff too as they consistently produce award winning products every day and this is getting recognised when it comes to the judging. To win a National Award for our Free From Chocolate Brownie Biscuits is just amazing.

"We hope to prove we can make this type of product and they will still taste great."

Ashers, which has locations in Forres, Elgin, Lossiemouth and Buckie, also received award recognition.

The bakery's farmhouse loaf claimed a National Silver Award in the 'Bread (Yeasted)' category.

The competition saw bakers from across the country put forward up to 12 of their star products which were then taste tested by 50 industry experts.

Mich Turner MBE, Scottish Baker of the Year ambassador, said: "With 630 products from 70 bakers in the running, each and every one of which was assessed for appearance, the quality of the bake and taste, they can be rightly proud of their win."

Ian McGhee, Scottish Bakers President, added: "Each and every winner should be justifiably proud,” continued Ian “and we hope that for every well deserved prize there is a corresponding business boost. Well done again to you all."
