The imminent retirement of the Hercules from RAF service will be marked with a flypast over Moray tomorrow afternoon.

Three of the planes are scheduled to pass over the air base in Lossiemouth at about 12.50pm, when they are set to be given an escort by Typhoons.

The Hercules has been in active service with the RAF since 1966, working right across the globe in support of both military and humanitarian operations.

Rugged, robust and well-liked by their crews, the planes were respected as reliable workhorses.

They are due to be retired from the RAF at the end of this month.

Their ground support staff are going to be re-located to similar roles around the UK.
