WATER safety workshops are being offered to village residents during the Easter holidays.

With financial support from Findhorn and Kinloss Community Council (FKCC), Findhorn Residents’ Assocation (FRA) has commissioned Findhorn Marina-based North 58 Sea Adventures to develop and deliver the two hour workshops, with the first at 2pm on Monday April 3 and the second at 6pm on Monday April 10.

North 58 Sea Adventures owner, Simon Paterson, confirmed they are being offered to families living in Findhorn and Kinloss.

He said: “Participants will learn about potential dangers when embarking on the waters of Findhorn Bay. They will receive expert local knowledge of tides and currents, safe places to play in and on the water, and advice on what to do if things go wrong. Some activities will be land-based and each workshop will include boating on the bay.”

Participating children must be aged eight-years-old or over and be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children per adult. The cost is £5 per person.

Chairman of FRA, Sam Russell, points out that, with more people accessing the waters around Findhorn, encouraging an understanding of tides and safety is of great importance.

He added: “I would like to thank FKCC for providing funding to subsidise these workshops. I would also like to thank North 58 for helping to develop the sessions.”

More information is available on FRA’s Facebook or via Morag on 01309 690465. Book the sessions at www.north58.co.uk/water-safety.

FRA meets in the James Milne Institute to support groups and amenities of Findhorn. It is responsible for organising the annual fair and other social events. Income is used to fund activities such as grass cutting, floral displays and Christmas lights. For more info’ contact Sam on 07740763136.
