ELGIN Library's "order and collect" book borrowing service is to be rolled out to other Moray libraries.

Since Moray Council’s pilot in Elgin began on August 20 customers have attended 257 collection slots and borrowed 976 books.

The successful scheme will now be rolled out to community libraries in Forres, Buckie, Keith, Aberlour and Lossiemouth.

Orders for collection at these libraries can be placed from today, September 4, with collections beginning next Monday, September 7.

Community librarian Philip Davidson said: "It has been lovely to see so many of our regular library users over the last fortnight.

"We thought the order and collect service would be welcomed, but it’s gone beyond our expectations.

"We’re very grateful to everyone who has placed an order, collected books and observed all the safety measures in place.

"I’m delighted that we can now offer this service in other community libraries."
