A LOCAL photography group helps members hone skills with regular field trips and meetings.

President Alasdair Joyce confirmed Forres Camera Club, established in 1976, currently has around 25 members and meets at Forres Tennis Club every Thursday from September to April.

He said: "Since early last year, almost all of our meetings have been virtual, though this is not normally the case.

"We had hoped to return to face-to-face meetings after the Christmas break but virtual indoor meetings will continue now weekly for the remainder of this session.

"However, the virtual meetings have proved to be very successful and do not present much of a barrier to prospective new members!"

During the summer months, weekly outdoor meetings take place, usually to a local scenic spot, often decided upon at short notice depending on the weather etc. These resumed and continued throughout summer last year.

"Occasional day-long outings are organised as well," said Alasdair. "These are very popular with members as they give a shared opportunity to visit somewhere a bit further afield."

FCC works hard to keep its membership together. This was especially evident during lockdown when many members were socially isolated and might have struggled to stay motivated and keep up with their photography.

Alasdair finished: "Covid has placed a lot of restrictions upon us, but we have kept our club alive and working really well under difficult circumstances. We've embraced the technology when we have had to, and are making the most of other outdoor opportunities."
