A LATER train running from Inverness to Elgin will allow Forresians to come home from Inverness – or travel to Elgin – later at night.

Scotrail have announced the trial of a new train – leaving Inverness at 10.12pm and arriving into Elgin at 10.59pm – as part of their updated timetable.

The train will call at Forres Train Station at 10.45pm. This will give people more time in Inverness at night, or allow later travel to Elgin.

It will first run on December 10, when Scotrail's new timetable is introduced.

Currently, the latest train leaving Inverness towards Elgin is the 9.34pm service which goes to Aberdeen. Elgin will be the new service's final stop.

The 9.34pm train from Inverness to Aberdeen will continue to run as normal and will remain the latest service for people travelling towards Aberdeen.
