Fourteen female fans of Forres Mechanics FC helped raise £1000 for the club by attending a ladies day at Mosset Park.

The event - featuring bar drinks, a meal and a raffle and a disco in the player’s lounge at the top of the main stand was organised by Cans supporters and bar staff, Lisa Pryde and Craig Black, to generate funds towards the ongoing floodlights appeal.

Craig confirmed a number of fundraisers and successful grant applications have so far accumulated more than half of the target figure of £90,000 needed to replace the ageing lights above the football ground.

He said: “Ladies Day was a great success. We’ve had really positive comments and the attendees have asked for us to do it again next season on a match day!”

The well dressed women were encouraged to wear something bright to highlight the appeal on the night.

“There were some sparkly outfits!” said Craig. “The event started at 3pm when everyone was welcomed with a Prosecco cocktail before they enjoyed an all-inclusive bar for three hours.

“The meal was supplied by Donnie MacLeod, who does Mechanics’ catering on match day. There was chicken and gravy, vegetables and tatties followed by chocolate pudding. It was delicious!”

He added: “Afterwards we put on some music and everyone got up on the dancefloor. Meanwhile, Lisa and I made sure their glasses weren’t empty!”

Forres Mechanics current floodlights are 40-years-old. The new set will be more energy efficient.

The club ran a fundraising quiz last month but had to cancel a planned race night in November.

The next and final fundraiser will be on Saturday March 25 when Moray band Sold On Soul play at Forres Town Hall.

Tickets cost £20 each at http://bit.ly/3xb1cXr, or follow the links on the club’s social media pages or contact the club direct.
