Branch secretary Tom Docherty confirmed there were nearly 100 entries from exhibitors and model kit traders from as far away as Aberdeen, Glasgow, Garnock and Stirling.

He said: “The show on Saturday, October 14 was well attended despite cold, wet and windy weather.

“The displays exhibited models of every variety including aircraft, Armoured Fighting Vehicles, ships, civilian vehicles, sci-fi and figures - as did the competition tables.”

There were 10 classes in the competition. Trophies and rosettes were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each. The winners in each class then competed for the honour of best model.

The competition was judged by 10 modellers from five clubs. The class winners were judged for ‘Best in Show’ by three modellers and the class winners.

The winning model was the tank with the Soviet flags with two trophies behind it - a Soviet Josef Stalin JS-7 tank.

David McCruvie from the Aberdeen Modeller’s Society won the overall prize with his 1/48th scale model of a Soviet JS-7 tank.

Mr Docherty said: “It was judged to be the best due to its quality of construction, modifications and paintwork.”

Kinloss and Forres Model Club meets on the second and fourth Friday of the month at 6.30pm.

“We welcome new members,” said Mr Docherty. “We are a friendly bunch and always keen to help develop modelling skills.

“We sit around an open rectangle of tables, building models, swapping tips and ideas, and generally putting the world to rights!

“Building models combines our interest in history with the therapeutic effect of building - you don’t think about anything else while the time flies by!”
