Kiesha Donaghy: New Elgin Primary staff and pupils to be supported "for the foreseeable future"

CHILDREN and staff at the primary school metres from the flat in which Kiesha Donaghy was found dead, will have support in place "for the foreseeable future", confirmed Moray Council.
Council leader Councillor Kathleen Robertson, speaking before a 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with her death, said it was an "upsetting time" for the New Elgin Primary School community, but staff were "working hard to keep things as normal as possible for the children".
Support would also be extended "over the coming days, weeks and months", the councillor said, and she knows she can: "rely on the professionalism of the staff".
The current situation "is not easy for us", she added, but "we will continue to provide all the help we can to the family, friends, schools and the wider community."
"Support for both staff and students at New Elgin Primary will be in place for the foreseeable future to ensure both staff and students at the school are supported during this upsetting time," Cllr Robertson said.
"The staff are working hard to keep things as normal as possible for the children so that they feel secure.
"This is not easy for us but I know I can rely on the professionalism of the staff and that over the coming days, weeks and months we will continue to provide all the help we can to the family, friends, schools and the wider community."
Cllr Robertson also offered her sympathy to those affected by Kiesha's death.
"Our thoughts are with all those touched by this," she said.
"Moray Council has from the outset been working closely with Police Scotland and other organisations to provide all the help it can.
"We're offering our resources to assist as the police investigation progresses and our community safety officers are working alongside them to ensure there is a visible and reassuring presence in the neighbourhood."
