Keith Builders Merchants hands out charity cash

A MORAY firm is continuing to do its bit to help charities and good causes amid the Coronavirus crisis.

Keith Builders' Merchants, which has depots in Forres and Keith, handed out four cheques from its charity fund.

Paul Preston was one of a number of volunteer drivers who took part in a 24-hour ploughing challenge at Cantlay Farm, Grange organised by Ian McDonald in memory of his mum for Cancer Research UK.

Local go kart race Ryan Simpson competes in the Scottish Super Go Kart series and this is the second year KBM have sponsored him. He`ll be competing on four tracks in Scotland as well as events in England this coming year.

Forres Girls Football Club has 43 members at present and that is increasing. The club has nine dedicated coaches and they play in football festivals in Inverness.

Children at Dyke Primary School also benefited after P7 pupil Amelia Stevenson had applied to the fund on behalf of the school for financial support towards a project to convert part of one of their outbuildings into a 24 hour eco-shop which will offer parents the chance to get and give pre-loved and second-hand school uniform without feeling shame or being questioned.

The project will help families save money and will also help the school and the community to save the planet by recycling.

One of the parents, Ewan Rhind, has agreed to do the joinery work but the pupils need wood to put over the stone walls and build a new wall, paint for the walls, a new door and a window.
