The six-part series features passionate home cooks Ruairidh (44) and Uisdean (54), from the islands of Harris and Lewis respectively, who will be knocking up a smorgasbord of mouth-watering dishes using fresh, local produce.

In the seventh series of Seòid a' Chidsin the lads take a look at a variety of topics including sustainability, cooking on a budget, the influence of Patagonia and a whole episode dedicated to one main ingredient – herring.

They also look at making the most of your ingredients, leftovers and preparing food to fill a picnic basket.

Most of all, Ruairidh and Uisdean love nothing more than cooking at a hot stove or a sizzling barbeque, sharp knife at the ready, to enjoy the chemistry of creatively combining ingredients to craft appetising dishes.

The lads also get out and about at the start of each episode to set the scene and give some background to the recipes they create back in their kitchen, which was built in an old barn in Back by Moja producer Kenny Stewart.

Featuring a water bath, dehydrator and a barbecue, it has everything the duo need to deliver their culinary creations.

Ruairidh, a journalist from Borve on the west coast of Harris, and Uisdean, a broadcast engineer from Carloway, have been pals for 20 years.

While Ruairidh is a keen amateur cook and previously worked at a bakery in Harris, Uisdean has some catering training and a passion for fishing.

The pair love nothing more than spending time with their families, fishing for shellfish, travelling and enjoying outdoor life.

Their journey to Seòid a' Chidsin started with a curry when Ruairidh moved back to the islands from Glasgow and, all these years later, their food and friendship continues to evolve.

Series seven of Seòid a' Chidsin airs on BBC Alba on Thursday, January 26 at 10pm and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer for 30 days.
