SANTA will greet families at Forres House Community Centre this weekend before touring the town with a band of merry musicians.

And Forres Community Church (FCC) is requesting small gifts for his grotto at the Centre - open from 11am-1pm on Saturday - to help make the forthcoming 'Christmas Kingdom Weekend' even more special.

Reverend Stuart Finlayson explained the donations will be presented to visiting children.

The pioneer minister said: "Following his appearance at the Centre, we'll take Santa around the town with his band, playing Christmas carols and hymns for everyone.

"We also plan to bless attending parents by giving them cards with an invitation to know Jesus. Scanning the cards will take them to a YouTube video sharing the real truth of Christmas: that light comes into the darkness and that rescue can only come from outside of ourselves."

FCC is teaming up with The Filling Station Moray at St Laurence Church on Saturday evening to host a family service.

The spiritually curious are also invited to attend discovery group taster sessions on Sunday hosted by FCC.

Rev Finlayson said: "The Kingdom Breakthrough weekend will be full of joy! Our aim is to seek out anyone who is open to Jesus.

"If we can take just a few people from a casual conversation to a meaningful one and then to a spiritual one, Holy Spirit will be working out the rest for the better."

Forres Community Church is a new worshipping community. Using presbytery mission initiative legislation, it aims to engage those who have never been involved with a faith group. FCC receives support from the Cairn Movement through its Give Us Scotland programme.
