A LOCAL church is hosting its second "new style service" on Sunday, December 12 at 6.30pm.

The Reverend Donald Prentice is inviting the community to the modern worship service celebrating Advent and Christmas at St Leonard's Church following a successful launch last month.

He said: "It's ideally suited for young families and the young at heart who want to come along and sing.

"Everyone is welcome to turn up to join in or just listen."

The modern service is run by Rev Prentice and associate Minister Steven Sass, assisted by praise band leader Chris Neal.

Other members of St Leonard's Church operate the sound system and text overlay on the video screen with the words of the songs.

It is typically held on the first Sunday of the month with a music rehearsal on an intervening Sundays at 6.30pm.

Musicians and vocalists are most welcome to join in.
