'Incredible work' of Enable lauded during Scottish Parliament visit

THE work of a national charity championing the rights of adults with learning disabilities has been lauded by Moray's MP.

Douglas Ross said he was “delighted” to have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Enable in the Scottish Parliament recently.

The charity, who have a Moray branch, held an exhibition in Holyrood to highlight their campaign to stand up for the human rights of people with a learning disability.

Mr Ross discussed the campaign and the challenges facing those who are supported through the charity with ambassador Heather Gilchrist and other Enable representatives.

He stated the “incredible work” carried out by those volunteering and working for Enable across Scotland provide such a strong voice for some of the most vulnerable in society.

Mr Ross said: “I know from Enable’s work in our communities here in Moray, just how invaluable their work is for some of our most vulnerable in society.

“That is why I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit their exhibition in the Scottish Parliament and meet with Heather and other representatives of Enable to discuss their hugely important campaign.

“They provide such a strong voice for those that need their support and that can be seen yet again through their campaign to stand up for the human rights of those with learning disabilities.

“This was a very helpful discussion and I thank everyone volunteering, working and campaigning for Enable for their tireless efforts to improve lives for those with disabilities.

“I really appreciated Heather and others in the Scottish Parliament taking the time to speak with me and I was delighted to see their exhibition receive such a positive response from fellow MSPs.”
