Two local performers will be joining together to put on a gig during the middle of February at the Universal Hall in Findhorn.

The music is going provided by singer/songwriter Sabine Mehlberg while the humour will come from Dave Till.

Every Sunday for 18 months during the pandemic, come rain or shine, Sabine played outside the Phoenix Café.

Inspired by the folk and country music of the 60s and 70s, she's gigged all over Europe.

Locally, she's played at the Captain's Table, the Moray Art Centre and the Universal Hall, all in Findhorn, plus The 1645 Inn in Auldearn and the café at Logie Steading.

Dave has written for television (both BBC and ITV), theatre (National Theatre of Scotland’s 5 minute Theatre) and radio (BBC Radio Scotland).

He's been performing his spoken word pieces for more than 30 years and has played venues in Moray, London and New York.

His influences include the Liverpool poets – Roger McGough, Adrian Henri and Brian Patten – plus John Cooper Clarke from his home town of Manchester, so humour is never far away.

Sabine said: "When Dave asked me to partner him for this forthcoming show, I saw an opportunity to both contribute my favourite cover songs as well to go in a new direction with my own songwriting.

"I told Dave I had some melodies with no words, and he offered to write some lyrics.

"I'll perform some of these new songs at the show. This all feels like a new phase in my own creative direction."

The duo will appear at the Universal Hall on Saturday, February 18 at 7.30pm. Tickets available on the door.

Dave said: "This coming show will act like a retrospective for my work. It's also going to give Sabine and me a chance to shape something we think will be fun for the summer festival circuit."
