WHAT are your memories of Leanchoil?

A community heritage project focused on the 136-year-old hospital at the top of St Leonard’s Road is inviting people to share them over Memory Teas in the Rent Room on the ground floor of the Tolbooth.

Heritage project officer, Helen Avenell, is coordinating the creation of a social history of Leanchoil for future generations – bringing together stories and photos on a dedicated website accessible to all.

She said: “Do you have photos or reminiscences of Leanchoil Hospital? Perhaps you worked there or maybe your children were born there? If so, we would love to chat. Leanchoil Hospital holds a special place in the hearts of many. We’re really keen to capture and preserve stories and memories from staff who spent their working lives there but also those treated at the hospital. Join us for a relaxed conversation over a cup of tea or coffee and a chance to share your photos and reminiscences with our community.”

‘Our Leanchoil’ is a six-month project and part of Leanchoil Trust’s aims to restore and re-purpose the building as a veterans’ activity centre and community health and wellbeing hub for the people of Forres and beyond. Helen and her team of interviewers are inviting people to share memories in the Tolbooth Rent Room on Wednesday, March 23 from 10am-noon, Thursday, March 24 from 2-4pm, Wednesday, March 30 from 10am-noon and Thursday, March 31 from 2-4pm.
