A local band kicked off a UK tour with a packed seaside gig.

Highland hard rockers, Bad Actress, including brothers from Forres, played for a capacity crowd at The Bandstand Hotel, Nairn - more than 200 fans attended and more had to be turned away to avoid overcrowding.

Lead guitarist and songwriter, Chick McFarlane (22), co-founded the group with younger sibling, Lui Q (19) on drums.

He said: “We couldn’t have wished for a better way to kick off the tour. Amazing crowds make our job easier!”

The Forres and Nairn-based band opened with ‘Poison Snake’, written by rhythm guitarist Tommy B (26). This was followed by an hour-long set of the band’s growing catalogue of eighties-inspired hard rock. Songs including ‘Red Hot’, ‘Hellbound’ and ‘Low Down and Dirty’ delighted the crowd, as did eighties covers: Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re not Gonna Take it’; and ‘Talk Dirty to Me’ by Poison. Bad Actress’ penultimate song ‘Living in Paradise’ is due for release in a few weeks. They then ended with recently released ‘Dynamite Lover’, with singer Toby Michaels bringing the crowd in to help out with the chorus.

Bad Actress are playing Sheffield and Bathgate before returning to Inverness to play the Tooth and Claw on September 9.
