A HIGHLAND League footballer has appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court accused of assaulting his partner to her severe injury with a blade.

Sam Urquhart (32), from Inverness, appeared in private at the court today (August 30), where he was also charged with threatening or abusive behaviour and malicious mischief.

Urquhart has played for Buckie Thistle since 2016 but was transfer listed this summer. He has also had spells with Elgin City, Nairn County and Clachnacuddin.

He made no plea when appearing and was committed for further examination and released on bail.
