Heavy snow sparked the cancellation of trains on the Inverness-Aberdeen line this morning after it caused a signal fault between Huntly and Insch.

ScotRail stated the 8.23am Aberdeen to Inverness, 8.55am Inverness to Aberdeen, and 10.10am Aberdeen to Inverness were cancelled due to the fault.

The earlier 4.56am Inverness to Edinburgh service terminated at Huntly, and the 5.39am Dundee to Inverness, which travels via Aberdeen, terminated at Inverurie.

The snow-related signal fault came as the Met Office extended its yellow weather warning until Sunday.
