Hearing aid batteries can be picked up from Moray libraries as part of new project

PEOPLE in Moray can now pick up replacement hearing aid batteries from the library.
The free service, offering up to two packs of size 13 and size 312 batteries for collection, is run by Moray Council in collaboration with NHS Grampian.
Libraries in Elgin, Forres, Keith, Burghead, and Tomintoul are involved with the project.
Anyone wanting to use the service will need to bring along their NHS letter that shows they have an NHS hearing aid and states the battery size that their device requires.
Councillor Kathleen Robertson (Forres, Conservative), said: “We are pleased to be working with NHS Grampian to make it easier and more convenient for people to pick up their hearing aid batteries in these local communities at the same time, perhaps, as they are picking up or dropping off their books.
"We hope this is useful and would remind people to check our library opening times before they venture out on a visit.”
Mark Mitchell, head of audiology services for NHS Grampian, said: "I am delighted to be working with Moray Council on this project.
"Making it easier for people to get new batteries for their NHS hearing aids means they can continue to get the benefit of these devices with the minimum of fuss and hassle for them."
