THE Omicron variant has seen Scottish Health Secretary Humza Yousaf postpone a visit to Moray to meet health chiefs and maternity campaigners.

He was due to visit Dr Gray's Hospital on Monday to discuss the independent review published last month into the future of maternity services there.

However, he said given the rapid spread of the Covid variant and the Government advice for people to limit contacts, he has taken the "difficult decision" not to travel to Moray at this time.

"I cannot justify a physical round table with key stakeholders at this time," he said.

Instead, he will hold a virtual Teams meeting with those involved.

He added: "I intend to travel to Moray at the earliest possible opportunity to meet in person, when guidance allows."
