A natural energy company is holding a public consultation at Forres Town Hall to discuss more energy generation outside of Forres.

Clash Gour Wind Farm will comprise 48 turbines around 12km south of the town and Clash Gour Holdings (CGH) - a subsidiary of EDF Renewables, Force 9 Energy’s joint development partner - are inviting the community to discuss the project and its effect on local radar systems in particular.

A CGH spokesperson explained: "We have launched a consultation relating to changes to the airspace around Clash Gour. The wind farm was consented by Scottish Ministers in October 2022, including a set of conditions which control how the project should be developed and built.

"These require that agreement should be reached with both Inverness Airport and Royal Air Force Lossiemouth on a solution to ensure that air traffic control services are not adversely affected.

"To achieve this, CGH is consulting on an airspace change proposal (ACP) to mitigate the effects of the wind farm on radar systems in the area."

CGH's in-person events on Wednesday April 19 at Forres Town Hall from 2-7pm and Thursday April 27 at Elgin Town Hall from 2-7pm will share information, receive feedback and answer questions relating to the air space change proposal.

Virtual consultation sessions will be held on: Thursday April 20 from 6-8pm and Tuesday April 25 from 6-8pm. To join one, email clashgouracp@consultation-online.co.uk for details.

The consultation is being carried out in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements. Consultation responses must be submitted via the CAA Citizen Space consultation website at https://consultations.airspacechange.co.uk/clash-gour-holdings-ltd/clash-gour wind-farm/

Information about the airspace change proposal (ACP) can be accessed via the Clash Gour ACP website at www.clashgouracp.com
