Greggs bakery in Greshop Filling Station, Forres postponed to 2023

PLANS to open a Greggs in Forres have been put on the backburner.
The chain of UK-wide bakers was due to open inside Greshop Filling Station, beside Tesco.
Building works were due to get under way on July 11, however, garage manager Gary Friedman was told plans were cancelled just four days prior to the planned start date.
“They were supposed to start works, but told us on July 7 that it wouldn’t be going ahead,” he said. “It will probably happen next year, they still think a Greggs will go in here, but they had to postpone due to the cost of the development. It’s a shame because we were looking forward to getting a Greggs here but we’ll carry on and are looking forward to it happening next year.”
The Greshop Filling Station already had adverts out looking for members of staff to work at the bakery.
Extension work will see the petrol station expanded before the bakery opens.
