On Thursday, April 13, Forres Golf Club Wednesday Seniors chairman, Ron Grant presented a cheque for £207 to the Forres Branch of the Alzheimers Scotland charity.

The funds were raised via Ladies and Wednesday Seniors competitions: the Leanchoil Cup; and the Spring Cup.

The competitions are played annually and proceeds donated to local charities.

The playing format is three-ball Texas Scramble for both - one lady and two gentlemen in each team.

Forty five players took part in the Spring Cup on April 5, won by Colin Smart, Dot Tough and Bruce Caldwell with a score of 56.7.

Thirty nine played in the Leanchoil Cup on August 17, won by Jeff Wheeler, Ellen Garrow and Geoff Matthewman with a score of 56.5. The weather was good for both fixtures with no rain or gusty winds.

Mike said: “The decision to donate to Alzheimer Scotland was made just before the first tee time at the Spring Cup meeting. I asked for suggestions then a majority vote was made. The staff at the Alzheimer shop were very appreciative - not a large sum but every little helps. Previous donations have been made to the Hydrotherapy Pool, the Osprey Bus and cancer charities.
