Grants boost on offer for community house repair projects

GROUPS who help maintain premises used by those in need could be in line for a four figure cash boost.

Grants of £5000 are available from the Screwfix Foundation for charities and not for profit organisations with projects that improve, repair and maintain homes and community facilities used by those in need by reason of financial hardship, sickness, disability, distress or other disadvantage throughout the UK.

The types of projects funded are: Improved energy efficient lighting and heating; Installation of new kitchens, bathrooms etc; Installation of a sensory room; General painting and decorating; Improving safety and security of a building.

The next application deadline is Friday, May 10.

All applications are reviewed individually by the Screwfix Foundation team on a quarterly basis, the review dates are in March, June, September and December.

As well as helping local charities and not for profit organisations, the foundation also partners with Macmillan Cancer Support, donating funds towards their home improvement programme, which helps people suffering from cancer in financial need with minor home improvements.
