NATURAL energy has generated nearly £20k for a Forres-based regional health facility.

And Moray Hydrotherapy Pool chairman James ‘Doc’ Anderson is very grateful to the Berry Burn Community Fund for the £18,660.75 in support.

He said: "It secures our existence! The money will be used to replace two ageing boilers and to improve ventilation in the boiler room.

"Having to close for many months during the Covid pandemic cost us a lot of money. There was no income but the cost of fuel to protect the pool continued.

"Post-Covid, it has taken a year to rebuild our user numbers to the pre-Covid level."

Moray Hydrotherapy Pool at Burdsyard Road has been open for 12 years. Care, maintenance and possible replacement of expensive, essential equipment is a constant consideration.

Mr Anderson said: "We are fortunate to have the only hydrotherapy pool in Moray thanks to the fundraising of the late May Taylor and her team.

"It is a wonderful facility to promote better physical and mental health in the community. It's there for all to use!

"Anyone with aches and pains is likely to benefit from structured exercise programmes, prepared for each user by one of our excellent physiotherapists."

Physios can demonstrate what is most helpful for each visitor. The comfortably warm temperature of the water is particularly inviting and beneficial during the winter.

"Give it a try," said Mr Anderson. "The hydro is attached to the main swimming pool beside Forres Academy..

"The more people that use it, the more likely we are to keep it open. To be unsuccessful is unthinkable!"
