A woman has been banned from the roads after she was found to be over the drink-drive limit last month

Elgin Sheriff Court heard that Sarah Johnston was reported to the police at 8.20pm on November 23.

Fiscal depute Shamielah Ghafar said: "A member of the public contacted the police advising that the accused had entered a caravan park.

"When officers arrived she appeared to be in a distressed state and was standing next to a grey Vauxhall.

"A strong smell of alcohol was detected from the accused."

A breath test carried out at 9.15pm, just under an hour after the phone call was received.

This recorded a reading of 49, compared to the legal limit of 22.

Defence solicitor Robert Cruickshank said his 48-year-old client had driven to Findhorn from her home in Forres because she was concerned about her ex-partner.

He added: "Her reasons were well-intentioned but she accepts she shouldn't have done it."

A 12-month ban plus a £400 fine were imposed on Johnston, whose address was given in court papers at Bogton Road.
