Forres woman aged 84 passes away six days after suffering serious assault in her home at Oystercatcher Close

THE 84-year-old Forres woman who was seriously assaulted in her own home last week has died.

At around 10pm on Sunday, August 28, police were called to Oyster Catcher Close, Knockomie Braes following a report of the lady being assaulted - she was taken to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries.

The accused made no plea at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Twenty-five-year-old suspect, Scott McCulloch, appeared in Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 30 and made no plea to charges of assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.

He has been committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is expected on Wednesday, September 7.

Unfortunately police have confirmed that the victim has passed away.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An 84-year-old woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment, but died on Saturday, 3 September, 2022.

“A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
